In 2019 Kargo began a partnership with Shane Co, the largest privately owned jeweler in the USA, to design, produce and supply jewelry and retail packaging for their retail locations across the country.
Challenge
Shane Co. needed to revamp a wide range of packaging to appeal to a younger audience while still maintaining the essence of their heritage brand. Their current system included several types of boxes for around twelve categories. They sought elegant, practical packaging that conveyed a sense of luxury and a special gift. Additionally, they required various types of packaging for retail and shipping purposes.
Solution
After an extensive collaborative development process, we finalized a clean, modern design inspired by gifts, incorporating unique brand elements. The packaging features textured cream art paper, luxe satin ribbon, and super soft microfiber as signature materials. We ensured that the jewelry is beautifully presented and well protected by meeting the size requirements. Each Shane Co. jewelry box is delivered inside an outer gift box, eliminating the need for additional wrapping.

The Kargo Approach
Design
Materials are produced in Shane Co.'s brand colors, including custom embossed art paper, double face satin ribbon, dye to match microfiber, and antique foil. The box sets are fully branded with unique details specific to Shane Co. Material and color standards are consistent across all touch points.
Function
The gift box comes with a built-in bow. It is a custom-sized hinge box that is fully lined and padded. Each box has two foil pin stripes to indicate where to open. The shopping bags also double as gift bags and can fit all the jewelry packaging. Additionally, the canvas gift bags serve as both reusable gift bags and dunnage, providing protection to the boxes during shipping.
Impact
Custom sizes fit perfectly in one standard size FEDEX box for efficient packing. The fabric ship bag is reusable and eliminates the need for dunnage. We prioritize natural materials whenever possible, reducing our reliance on petroleum-based box binding. The unique design minimizes the need for gift wrapping.
